About Todd Beals

Todd Beals is a professional trumpet player actively performing and recording music for the last three decades. Growing up in Florida, his favorite soloists were Wynton Marsalis, Miles Davis, and Chet Baker. As a result of their influence, his sound is delicate, deliberate, and powerful. He moved to South Carolina in 2013 and now calls Mount Pleasant his 'forever' home. Well-versed in a multitude of styles including classical, jazz and reggae, he has performed at Boston University's Tanglewood Institute, the International Trumpet Guild Festival, appeared on Good Morning America and recorded a CD with the prestigious University of North Florida 1:30 Lab Jazz Ensemble.

Todd has also appeared on stage at Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and jazz festivals in Jacksonville, Gainesville, Folly Beach, and the inaugural Riverfront Revival in Charleston. In addition, he's had the opportunity to perform in France, Jamaica, Japan, and Canada as well as many great cities throughout the United States, including NYC and New Orleans. Some of his live performance highlights include opening for Chick Corea and Gary Burton, Stanley Jordan, Black Uhuru, and Yellowman, and sharing the stage with Nat Adderly, Freddy Cole, Ira Sullivan, Marcus Printup and the late Frank Puzzullo. As a live sound engineer, he’s recorded many legendary artists like Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Dolly Parton, Marcus Roberts, Phil Woods, Bobby Shew, and Peter Erskine.

Some of his own solos have been heard worldwide on Goin' Native Records, and he was a longtime member of the critically acclaimed Sam Rivers and The RivBea Orchestra in Orlando, contributing to the "Aurora" CD in 2006. His jazz trio was nominated for “Best Jazz Band” by the Charleston City Paper, and he currently leads his own group(s) for private events, but also appears with other local bands including Joe Clarke's Big Band, The Charleston Jazz Orchestra, Gracie & Lacy, The Shakin’ Martinis, 17 SOUTH and the Blue Dogs among others. His genuine love of all things related to music brings him great joy and he enjoys sharing his passion and knowledge through private lessons with aspiring students of all ages:
